18th century portrait miniature of Miss Anne Buller, painted on ivory

wearing white veil, dress with frilled edge and rope of pearls around her shoulder, gold hoop earrings

This is a fine example of Nathaniel's work, in good condition. The costume the sitter is wearing suggests that it is a wedding portrait

The name of the sitter is written on the backing paper. The Bullers were a well connected West County family and Anne married her cousin, James Buller of Shillingham and Downes in 1791. Her sister, Susannah married Admiral Sir John Duckworth.
