Queen Victoria in white dress with blue sash , 1841-1841
Freeman was born in Conneticut and largely self taught, by 19 he was supporting himself and travelled to New York as an artist. After a short stay in Montreal in 1816 he then relocated to London where he received considerable success. He painted amongst others William IV, Prince Albert, the Duchess of Leeds in 1825 and Queen Victoria in 1841 after which time he returned to United States.
This miniature was Painted from Life at Buckingham Palace, March 1841.
