A lady member of the Warde family, possibly the wife of Patientius Warde (1717-86) of Hooton Pagnell Hall

A Lady standing three-quarter length wearing a lace indoor cap and extremely finely embroidered vari coloured coat over a white dress decorated with blue edged white ribbon at her corsage

This is painted by a very accomplished hand and shows all the traits of the work of Andrew Benjamin Lens. The detailed embroidery in the costume is exquisite and clearly indicates that the sitter is wealthy and very fashionable.
