A Lady wearing lilac coloured dress

Artist: Richard Crosse

Set in the original fishskin case

The sitter is believed to be a relative of the Coote/Syson family. In Richard Cross's fee book it is recorded that a Mrs. Coore had her portrait taken on 27 April 1778, it is just possible that the 'r' in the fee book could have actually read a 't' in which case the sitter in the portrait could be Mrs. Coote.
