A portrait of a Lady artist standing full length

Artist: Adam Buck

She wears long white dress and rests her right arm on a red shawl draped over a chair beside a table.
Signed and dated 1816

The presence of an artist's mixing palette, a sketch book and two large artist's folios on the ground suggests that the sitter is likely to be an artist herself.
The sitter bears a striking resemblance to the eldest daughter of Richard Bagot, Bishop of Bath and Wells - a group portrait of nine of Richard's chidlren were painted by Buck in 1825, and is now in the Morgan Library and Museum.
