A young girl wearing a lilac frock, the sleeves slashed to reveal white, white lace collar and fichu, black lace choker

Signed with initials and dated 1758 on the obverse, set in gold fob type locket the reverse with plaited hair
Oval, 3.4 cm high
Two small losses of paint above the sitter's head, otherwise this miniature is in good unfaded condition.

Collins worked in Bath where he instructed Ozias Humphry in the art of miniature painting. He moved to Dublin where he had practised with great success.
