McMoreland was born in Scotland in 1741, dying sometime after 1809. He worked in Scotland, Manchester, London, and Liverpool, painting, teaching, and lecturing. His work was of high calibre, and he exhibited at the Royal Academy and other top tier venues. His paintings are on display at the V&A and the British Museum
