Fulwar Craven, of the 1st (Roya) Regiment of Dragoons, was a Cornet 11 July 1798; Lieutenant, 4 April 1800; Captain, 19 Nov. 1803 and out of the army between 1806 and 1808. He appears to have married Laura, 2nd daughter of George Vansittart in 1809. The NPG records state that he was born in 1782 and died 9n 1860. After his military career he seems to have spent his life breeding horses. l

The Royal Dragoons (1st Dragoons) was a mounted infantry and later a heavy cavalry regiment of the British Army. The regiment was formed in 1661, and served until 1969, when it was amalgamated with the Royal Horse Guards to form The Blues and Royals.
