A boy facing right painted in black and shades of grey on card, housed in a gilt-metal red wood frame the border embossed with gold guilloche pattern, the reverse with red trade label; together with an officer painted in black with uniform in colour,I Bunney 1804 under the bust; and an officer painted on card with black pigment against a grey background and gold highlights, attributed to J.H. Gillespie, circa 1818 (rectangular 4 inches high)(3)

Daniel McIntosh, of 15 South Saint Andrew St, Edinburgh 1799-1810, 16 Saint Andrew St 1811-1816, 49 Princes St 1817-1823 was a Carver, gilder, and printseller. In 1809 he advertised that he continued to use a celebrated patent machine to take profile likenesses within 'the short space of one minute, for 5s each, and in colours for 10s.6d'. He also offered to give instruction in landscapes etc and to supply drawings to copy (Edinburgh Evening Courant 2 March 1809).
