Nicholas Dixon

Nicholas Dixon (1645 - 1708)

Dixon practised as a miniature painter in London, where he lived for some time in the parish of St. Martin -in-the-Fields. He had an aristocratic clientele. He was for some time limner to Charles II., in succession to Samuel Cooper and Keeper of the King's Picture Closet.rrHe often (though not always) signed with a monogram ND (frequently in gold), the last stroke of the N forming the first of the D. As his best Dixon was very good.
