Richard Crosse (1742 - 1810)

Richard was a deaf-mute. He studied at Shipley's School and exhibited at the Incorporated Soc. of Artists from 1760 and at the Free Society of Artists, 1761-1766. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, 1770-1796. He was appointed painter in enamel to George III in 1789. His disappointment at not being able to marry the Miss Cobley, embittered his life.
