Lord Beauchamp ascended the ranks of the army as an Officer with the 13th and 16th Light Dragoons from 1803-1814. He was later promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel in 1821, Major General in 1837, Colonel in 1843, Lieutenant General in 1846 and finally General in 1853. From 1821 he served with the 1st Life Guards and the 10th Royal Hussars. He married July 8, 1824 Lady Susan Caroline Eliot (1797-183) the second daughter of William Eliot, 2nd Earl of St Germans. They had six children, three of whom predeceased Beaumchamp.
