Wearing a blue coat with large gold buttons, white waistcoat and tied cravat
set in the original gold frame with pearl border. the reverse with monogram JB of diamonds on blue glass within plaited hair border

It is not certain how the identity of the sitter has come about but clearly the sitter was a wealthy gentleman witnessed by the diamond monogram on the reverse of this miniature. Lady Burnaby is recorded in Engleheart's fee book as having had her portrait taken in 1790.
