A miniature portrait of an unknown Gentleman, Attributed to Nathaniel Hone

Wearing a gold trimmed lilac coat and matching waistcoat, frilled lace cravat
Gold initials A.D. on the obverse and dated 1764, set in the original frame

Although not seemingly singed this work bears a strong resemblance to the work of Nathaniel Hone. The A.D. Might refer to the Latin anno Domini and meaning 'in the year of the Lord', in other words 1764 was the year in which this piece was executed.
